Cardiff Women's Aid is a non judgemental supportive organisation for women, and the children who they care for, who are fleeing domestic abuse.
The children's Centre of excellence is a department within Cardiff Women's Aid. They help support the children of the service users that access women's aid.In many cases these children have been severly effected by the effects of domestic violence.
The children's centre of excellence help these children to re-build their lives in many areas, including confidence and education (which are paramount).
They help the children by running regular activties, educational trips and other social events. Unfortunately this cannot happen on a regular basis due to costs/funding. The main obsticle when arranging these activities is transport, they often have to book coaches or mini buse's which can be very costly.
So my aim is to try and raise some funds towards a people carrier in which they could use to transport the children to their trips. If we could raise this money then they would be able to use other vehicle's (staff vehicles) along with the people carrier transport the children, this would be more cost effective and reliable. The children could have their trips on a more regular basis and would benefit gratefully from this.
Looking into the vehicle requirements:
The children's team would require a people carrier (7 seater), possibly a ford galaxy or along those lines. I have found these vehicles second hand in good condition with low mileage for around £4,500 so I have put the target up to £5000, any remaining would go towards petrol.
